THE vtONE FALL 2010 WORSHIP EVENT:

- The vtONE Fall 2010 Worship Event was such an AMAZING time of united prayer and worship in the body of Christ at Virginia Tech. We were so blessed to have people join us from other campuses, as well as several ministries/churches in the New River Valley.
- Instead of a speaker, we had video interview testimonies of students sharing parts of their lives, their relationships with God, as well as a few other things they are passionate about. Their stories were honest and encouraging, and we are so grateful that they allowed us to share their stories with our community.

Operation Christmas Child:

vtONE is once again partnering with Operation Christmas Child (You can find more information about this organization here). We are going to try to give shoe boxes/supply lists to each of the campus ministries to hand out to everyone who wants to participate and use the vtONE Fall 2010 Worship Event as our primary drop-off location. Also, starting on Wednesday (October 20, 2010) you will be able to pick up shoe boxes/supply lists at War Memorial Chapel, located on the Drillfield at Virginia Tech (the supplies will be located next to the office in the Chapel). – For more information and updates, you can visit the vtONE Operation Christmas Child Facebook Group.

vtONE Spring 2010 Worship Event – TODAY!!!

Hello Everyone,

In just a few hours, we will be kicking off the vtONE Spring 2010 Campus-wide Worship Event.

We are so blessed that the vision of united worship and prayer that started so many years ago is still such an important part of our community.

We hope that you will join us this evening as we lift up the name of Jesus Christ together! Our God is awesome, and He loves it when His children come together in unity.

vtONE SPRING 2010 WORSHIP EVENT:

THE SPEAKER:
Our speaker is Ron Barnard, former Virginia Tech Chi Alpha campus pastor. He is going to share an awesome and gripping story from his life that is full of pain, joy, love, and God’s incredible grace. We truly believe you won’t want to miss this!!!

THE BAND:
We will, once again, have a multi-ministry worship band rockin’ the house and lifting up the name of Jesus Christ.

vtONE Fall 2009 Worship Event

The vtONE Fall 2009 Worship Event will be held in the Squires Commonwealth Ballroom on Saturday, October 3rd at 7pm. We’re excited to have Chris Faith, one of the elders of Blacksburg Christian Fellowship (BCF), as our speaker for this event.

vtONE is partnering with Operation Christmas Child. Since 1993, they have delivered over 68 million gift-filled shoe boxes to needy children in over 130 countries around the world. New Life Christian Fellowship, [nlcf], will be supplying 1000 shoe boxes for the event. At the event, you’ll have an opportunity to take a box home and fill it with items from a provided list. Drop off locations will be announced at the event. Let’s be a blessing to children around the world!

Come join us for an awesome time to experience God together in prayer and in worship!

Welcome back!  Our fall worship event will be on September 27, 2008, in Commonwealth Ballroom.  The time is TBA, because there is the Nebraska football game that day and the time of the game hasn’t been announced yet.  Keep checking this site the week of the event to find out what time we’re getting together!


vtONE April Gathering and Prayer Week

vtONE will be hosting a gathering starting at 8pm on April 15th, in Squires Commonwealth Ballroom. Â This event will be somewhat low-key; you are invited to bring a blanket with which to sit on the floor. Â We will gather to worship, pray, and proclaim God’s power through tragedy.

We will also host daily prayer at noon the week of 4/14 – 4/18.  Each day we will gather at the Burruss flagpoles to have a short time of worship, and then extended prayer on a specific topic each day.

Please Pray for Northern Illinois

Hi folks,

As you may know, a massive shooting occurred yesterday at Northern Illinois University, on par with the tragedy that happened here less than a year ago. Â Please pray for the students, staff and faculty, and anyone else involved or affected by this horrible incident. Â There is power in our prayer, because God hears and honors his children’s prayers, and we are able to weep with NIU. Â We are praying for you all!

Week of Prayer!

BCM buildingHey everyone!  Sorry for the delay in announcement.  vtONE is working with Campus Crusade and the BCM to host a week of prayer next week, leading up to our worship event.  Here’s the scoop:

The Kick-Off is Sunday, January 20th at 7pm in the BCM for a time of prayer & praise.
you can sign up for a dedicated time slot from 7am to 7pm each day, Monday through Saturday.  The BCM prayer room will be open 24 hours a day regardless.  Sign up at:

Each day at noon, we will gather to pray over a prayer wall that is posted in the BCM prayer room.
Each night at 7pm, there will be prayer and praise led by students from various campus ministries.
After noon on Saturday, prayer for vtONE will move to Squires 217.

The BCM building is located on the corner of Washington St. and Kent St., right on the edge of campus.

Please feel free to sign up for more than one slot by yourself, with friends, or a small group. Â Hope you join us!


Spring 2008 Worship Event

Hey guys! Â Just a heads up that our spring worship event will take place on Saturday, January 26, at 7:00pm in Commonwealth Ballroom in Squires. Â We are looking forward to it being another great time to worship and pray together. Â Mark your calendars!


vtONE Outdoor Worship Gathering Saturday

This Saturday, 7-10pm on Henderson Lawn at College Ave & Main St in downtown Blacksburg.

A night where we gather together across ministries and churches as God’s united family in downtown Blacksburg. We’ll have worship and prayer, plus Louie Giglio from the Passion movement will be sharing his heart with us.

Bring your friends (they don’t have to know Jesus) and spread the word. This campus is a broken place and the solution isn’t a ministry or church, the answer is Jesus Christ and his sacrifice for us. The event is just a few days away–help us get the word out!

Since we will be outdoors, please dress for the weather.

Prayer at the Burruss Flagpoles, noon – 1pm all week

Burruss Candlelight VigilIn light of this past week, we feel it is important that we as believers on this campus be united in prayer continuously. Monday through Friday, at 12 noon until about 1pm, at the flagpoles in front of Burruss, we will have some worship and extended group prayer. We invite you to join the Christian body to pray for a different topic each day. Hope to see you there!

There will also be some worship tonight (Monday) night on the Burruss steps at 8:30. Bring instruments!

Update: we will be at the Burruss flagpoles rain or shine. Please wear weather appropriate clothing!


Prayers from Around the World

VT Ribbon CrossPeople are praying for Virginia Tech from around the world. In the past two days, I’ve talked to people concerned about our campus from more states than I can count . . . Wisconsin, Ohio, Louisiana, Florida to name a few.

We wanted to share some of the prayers and stories that have been flowing into vtONE from around the world. Take a look at these stories, and feel free to add a comment and share your own stories.

A big God thing is starting on our campus, and I can’t help but believe that Satan is using this catastrophic event to try and get us to lose sight of God’s mission for us. Let’s remember who our king is and give Satan a slap in the face by turning this tragedy into a huge opportunity for ministry and a huge testimony of God’s faithfulness in the midst of crisis.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Pray for Virginia Tech

It’s been the kind of day that you wouldn’t wish on anyone here at Virginia Tech. Our campus has been shaken, but God is still our king.

As people are coping with the loss of so many members of our community, we want to take every chance that we have to lift our campus up in prayer. There’s a few specific things that we can pray for:

  1. The injured members of our community
  2. The families of those who have passed away, especially that people in their lives would be able to share the Good News with them while they’re more receptive
  3. That a tragedy like this one would not derail what God is doing on this campus. God is moving powerfully here like we saw two weekends ago, and a tragedy like this is no excuse to let Satan have the victory instead of God.
  4. Ministry opportunities as our campus heals to share the Good News with people who wouldn’t have cared at all 24 hours ago.

Spring Worship Event: March 31

Worship

This semester’s worship event will be on March 31 in Squires Commonwealth at 7pm. Come for an evening of repentance, prayer, worship, and unity as we proclaim that Jesus is Lord over all parts of our lives.

Come ready to be challenged about how you can have a bigger impact for God’s kingdom on our campus. Bring your friends, your small group, people from your classes. We’re believing that God is going to shake and rock our campus.

24 Hour Prayer: March 30-31

Before we come together as a campus and worship, we want to lift our campus up in prayer. We’re not talking about praying for 15 minutes before the worship event, or even an hour. We’re going to be praying for 24 hours before the worship event through the end of the worship event.

To make that happen, we need some people to volunteer to spend 1-2 hours praying for our campus. We’re looking for at least 3-4 people to be praying at a time, so grab a few friends and email vt-one@vt.edu to grab a spot.

7pm – 10am at the Prayer Room (directions)
10am – 10pm in Squires meeting room 217 (near Commonwealth Ballroom)

Prayer Room Reopening for Spring 2007

Prayer RoomSpring semester is now in full swing. We’re going to be back up and running with the prayer room starting this Sunday, January 21. The hours are the same as last semester: Sunday 5pm – 9pm, Monday 9pm – 12mid, and Tuesday 9pm – 12mid.

We’d love to extend those hours, so if you’re interested in being a gatekeeper for an hour a week, lifing our campus up in prayer, please send us an email.

It’s under a week until the next worship event (September 23, not September 7, like some of the info cards had by mistake). This week, we’d like to ask all of you to pray for several things to get us ready to worship together. Fall Worship Event

Join us on September 23 in Squires Commonwealth Ballroom for the fall worship event. It’s going to be a powerful evening of getting right before God, praying for our campus, and uniting through worship. Doors open at 7pm.

Grab some food with your friends after the Cincinnati game, and then come over to Squires for an evening about planting seeds, bearing fruit, and perseverance. Now’s a great time to start inviting your friends, people from your ministry, people who live on your hall, and anyone who needs to be encouraged in their faith.

Online prayers

I want to draw your attention to two new features of this blog: a prayer requests page and a page about answered prayers. You can visit those pages and post comments on them sharing a prayer request or an answered prayer. Better directions are on the top of both those pages. Let’s use the prayer requests page to get us praying about the same big things and use the answered prayers page as encouragement. Please check out those pages and keep on praying.

Prayer journalingDuring the prayer event, we had a journal by the chapel entrance where people could write down prayers, ways that God had answered their prayers, or whatever was on their hearts. Looking through the journal was awesome, and we want to share that experience with you.
